Applications Procedure

The following steps shall be taken in processing student application:

  1. Submission of
    1. Application form with photos and two accomplished recommendations;
    2. Photocopy of the latest report card and transcript of records (for evaluation purposes) of current school;
    3. Certification of good health;
    4. Where possible, certification of good moral character from current school.
  2. Scheduled initial interview with parents. Criterion is leveling of expectations between parents and school and acceptance of indicated terms of reference
  3. Scheduled entrance examination, to consist of:
    1. Writing proficiency
    2. Reading comprehension
    3. Listening comprehension
    4. Mathematics
  4. Interview by a senior teacher covering the following areas:
    1. Family and home background (e.g., dealings with parents and siblings);
    2. Perception of scholastic (academic and disciplinary) performance, including justifications for grades, disciplinary record, and inconsistencies;
    3. Perception of teachers and school authority;
    4. Friends and “enemies”;
    5. Interests: sports, culture, hobbies, talents;
    6. If the student is admitted, the parents undergo final incorporation interview prior to the start of the school year. Objective is to reassure parents of the seriousness of the contract from the perspective of Bannister and, it is hoped, from their own.

IMPORTANT NOTE: The student admission procedure is not a scientific process but a matter of experienced and reasoned judgment through the collegial process. At bottomline, we are looking for good students who are disposed to helping build a school, building Bannister Academy.




The following forms shall be used in relation to student application:

  1. Student Application and Information Form (to be filled up by parents), to include questions on academic performance, co-curricular involvements, disciplinary cases, interests and talents, among others;
  2. Parent initial interview form (Leveling of Expectations);
  3. Student entrance examination;
  4. Parents final interview;
  5. Student Incorporation Profile (record tracer of admission flow and documents submitted, and corresponding ratings);
  6. Incorporation (or rejection) Letter (formally informing parents of admission or non-admission … tone should be formal but warm and cordial);
  7. Enrolment form and documentation.
